Type of Pollution and Human Health

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the sources we got from the nature. Without contaminants our natural resource are very clean and therefore we love to use these. Generally pollution is categorized into air pollution,  water pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution, radioactive pollution, thermal pollution (sometime also termed as heat island effect) and light pollution.

Below photograph clearly shows the air pollution in terms of smoke. Air pollution can be by many means as it depends on various parameters. Moreover the reason of this kind of pollution is of inefficient system or un-burnt fossil fuel. Pollutants have a negative impact on the natural resources that we have in our world.

Air pollution is called when its chemistry get affected by pollutants. Pollutants may be in the form of particulate matter such as PM10 or PM2.5 etc. and dangerous gases such as carbon dioxide, Sulphar dioxide - SOx, NOx, dust or gases emitted by automobiles and form industries of various types.
All these pollutants affect the human health greatly and continuous inhaling of these gases may vanish the human life. These affect the kidney, and other micro organism of our body.
The list of pollutants are mentioned below -
  • Pollution from automobiles  (train, car, bus, plane, etc.) - emission of various hazardous gases
  • Sometimes due to fire in forest, volcanic eruption etc.
  • Emission by Diesel Generator, commonly called DG sets (generally used for power backups) and energy system used during construction/ demolition of buildings/construction activities

Effect of air pollution can be easily observed on human health -
  • Air pollution increases smog,
  • It may cause Acid rain
  • May cause Asthma
  • It causes Global Warming
  • many others are observed by us

Below image was taken at Sambhar Lake, Rajasthan. The process involved in this factory is to purify & refine the Salt - Sambhar Salt. There was complete black some which indicate un-burnt fuel or very very inefficient process of purifying Salt.

Effect of air pollution:
1. CO2 (Carbon die-oxide) increases in the environment which affect the human health.
2. Indoor air quality suffers (hard to meet the ASHRAE 62.1 guidelines to meet the CO2 level in         the occupied areas)
3. There are many more .....to come shortly

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Water pollution:
whenever poly bags, paper or contaminants get involved into either stable or flowing water then obviously it would be water pollution.
