HVAC Equipments and System
ASHRAE Standard 90.1 (Energy Standard For Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings) defines Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning System (HVAC) for the building except low rise. Below figure taken from learnhvac.org and it shows the typical equipment used in HVAC systems. For beginner, http://www.learnhvac.org/ is very meaningful and can understand the operation of HVAC system in buildings.
Followings are the Standard related to HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) system guidelines
1. ASHRAE Standard 90.1
2. ASHRAE Standard 62.1
The basic purpose of installing HVAC system in building is to provide desirable indoor thermal comfort conditions to building occupant. HVAC system maintain the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) level by mixing the fresh air into the zoned recirculated air. Sometimes, due to high occupancy indoor air get polluted and thus it is also maintained by providing more fresh air than designed. Better indoor thermal comfort improves the productivity of the occupants.
