It is estimated that lighting consumes 15-20% of total electricity use in large office buildings in the country. Both daylighting and artificial lighting play an important role in reducing energy usage in buildings. Lighting controls play important role in energy efficiency and you are one of the recognised experts in this particular area. My I take this opportunity to invite you to speak on 'Energy Efficiency Through Controls' during the workshop.
The daylight simulation is a process to determine the areas that are well lit throughout the day-time operations and the areas where artificial lighting is necessary. Therefore tremendous potential to save energy through design optimization.
The existing building stock in India is 25 billion sq ft and which is predicted to touch 100 billion sq ft by 2030. Therefore it is imperative that these buildings need to be energy efficient by design. Today there are tools which enable energy optimization leading to the high performance of buildings, where the lighting has been seen as an important parameter. Recent studies conducted worldwide show that daylighting also improves comfort and productivity in buildings.
Against the above background, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA) India are organizing a joint workshop on 4 October 2017, Jaipur coinciding with its flagship event, the Green Building Congress 2017 at Jaipur, scheduled to be held from 4-7 Oct 2017.
