Greetings from CII – Indian Green Building Council (GBC) !

We are pleased to inform you that Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) was formed in 2001 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). IGBC is making constant efforts towards the wider adoption of green concepts.  IGBC has initiated various sustainable initiatives in the country such as development of Green Building Standards, Policy Advocacy with the government and Capacity Building of green building professionals. The IGBC is closely working with both Central & State Governments in further greening the projects across the country. The green building movement stands tall with over 3,900 registered green building projects with a footprint of over 4.58 Billion Sq.ft.

CII –Godrej GBC with the support of all the stakeholders is playing a catalytic role in fostering and promoting ‘Green concepts’ in India.

To emphasis the importance of energy efficiency in buildings, IGBC & ISHARE are  organizing an exclusive Joint Workshop on Enhanced Efficiency in Green Buildings  on 24 February 2017, during ACREX 2017. The venue for the workshop is Magnolia, Hall 2E, 2nd Floor, IEML, Greater Noida.

This workshop would be beneficial to all HVAC Professionals, MEP & Green Building Consultants, Energy Modelers, Green building facilitators, Lighting consultants, Architects, Corporates and other professionals of building sector. By taking part in the workshop the participants would acquire knowledge on IGBC rating system and will have exposure on ECBC, ISHRAE & ASHARE codes, additionally, the participants would learn how to reduce the energy consumption in New and existing buildings.

ISO 7730 for Thermal Environment Evaluation

ISO 7730 is an International Standard for 'Ergonomics of the Thermal Environment-Analytical Determination and Interpretation of Thermal Comfort Using Calculation of the PMV and PPD and Local Thermal Comfort Criteria’.  ISO 7730 illustrates methods to evaluate the general thermal sensation and the degree of discomfort for occupants exposed to moderate thermal environmental conditions. This Standard grouped the thermal environment into three different categories namely  Category-A,  Category-B and  Category-C  All there  categories  are described with the help of Table given below.  Category-A describes narrow comfort conditions, whereas Category-C prescribes wider comfort bandwidth (-0.7 < PMV < +0.7). EN 15251 for Energy and Thermal Environment Evaluation

Comfort standard EN 15251 (version released in 2007) is entitled to ‘Indoor environmental input parameters for design and assessment of energy performance of buildings–addressing indoor air quality, thermal environment, lighting and acoustics.’  The Standard EN 15251 deals with energy performance of buildings as well as indoor environment quality such as thermal environment, indoor air quality, acoustic comfort, and visual comfort conditions to provide more comfortable indoor climate and that is also energy efficient.  Previous research  (Nicol & Wilson conducted study in 2010)   has examined that EN15251 Standard helps building designers to optimise the building energy consumption, considering thermal, air quality, acoustic and visual comfort.
