Energy Performance Gap fully-funded full-time PhD studentship in Low Carbon Building Group, Oxford Brookes University, UK

Dear all

We are pleased to announce another fully-funded full-time PhD studentship in the Low Carbon Building Research Group, Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development and the School of Architecture in Oxford Brookes University (Oxford, UK).

The ‘Energy Performance Gap PhD Studentship’ is open to UK, EU and International students. The successful applicant will receive an annual bursary of £11,000/year for three years and the tuition fees will be paid by the University. The doctoral research study will be designed to address the overarching question: How effective are low energy and zero carbon houses in reducing actual end use energy demand? For further information about PhD studentship and application pack, please see: http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AMW603/three-year-full-time-funded-phd-studentship-energy-performance-gap/

The OISD Low Carbon Building Group (LCBG) has a strong international reputation in the field of carbon counting (RIBA award-winning DECoRuM model), building performance evaluation, climate change adaptation of buildings and neighbourhoods, and low carbon communities. Besides ongoing ESRC/EPSRC funded research projects, the group has recently been awarded large research grants from EU Horizon 2020 programme, Innovate UK (formerly Technology Strategy Board) and Joseph Rowntree Foundation. (See:  http://architecture.brookes.ac.uk/research/lowcarbonbuilding/resources/LowCarbonBGv4.pdf and  http://architecture.brookes.ac.uk/research/lowcarbonbuilding/resources/lcbg-bpe-booklet-2015.pdf/).

We are looking to recruit an exceptional candidate of the highest quality who is capable of submitting PhD thesis within 3 years.
The closing date for the studentship is 22 February 2016.  Successful candidates will start in April 2016.
Please feel free to circulate this email to students or colleagues who may be interested in these studentships.
Thanks and best wishes
